Hijabi Vlogger Ulfat Rafiq sets an example for breaking stereotypes in Kashmir
Ulfat Rafiq, a 20-year-old civil engineering B.Tech student , began her vlogging journey by posting educational content, which quickly gained positive responses from viewers. Her channel, Ulfat Rafiq, now has over 45 thousand subscribers and 150+ videos with 7million + views
Breaking stereotypes in Kashmir can be challenging, with many families reluctant to allow their children to pursue unconventional careers. However, things are changing, and the youth is breaking free from conventional education and traditional jobs. One such example is Ulfat Rafiq, the 'Hijabi Vlogger' from Kashmir, who has become a center of attraction through her creative and ambitious vlogging while adhering to religious norms.
She posts three vlogs per week and has earned recognition, receiving the Young Leadership Award 2021 by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and the fastest-growing YouTuber award.
Despite initial reluctance from her father, Ulfat continued with vlogging while respecting societal norms and always wearing a hijab.
She also runs the production unit Struggle For Peace, which has organized initiatives like Come Back Once Again, Run For Women, and Drug De-addiction, uplifting the valley's image.
Ulfat is an inspiration for aspiring vloggers in Kashmir, breaking stereotypes and setting an example by achieving fame and recognition while adhering to religious and societal norms.
