Her work, written primarily in Urdu, has resonated with thousands of readers across social media. Through her verses, Bareen-ul-Nisa captures the essence of Kashmir a land of immense beauty and deep silence and gives expression to emotions often left unspoken.
“Writing is not just expression; it’s a way of feeling the world more truthfully,” Bareen-ul-Nisa says, describing her approach to poetry.
Bareen-ul-Nisa began writing at a young age, finding in poetry a way to articulate feelings that words often fail to express. What started as personal reflections in a notebook soon evolved into public sharing, as she began posting her work online. Her page now features both her original poetry and selected verses from renowned Urdu poets such as Faiz Ahmed Faiz, Jaun Elia, and Parveen Shakir.
“Kashmir itself is my greatest inspiration its people, its silence, its beauty, and its resilience,” Bareen-ul-Nisa said. “I’m also deeply influenced by classical poets whose works continue to echo through generations.”
For Bareen-ul-Nisa, poetry is more about honesty than perfection. “It’s about saying what the heart feels but the lips cannot,” she adds.
At just nineteen, Bareen-ul-Nisa has already built a strong literary presence and a loyal readership. Her biggest achievement, she says, is being able to touch people’s hearts through her words.
