Azka bhat from Nowgam Srinagar is an arts student and a self-taught calligraphy artist and Mehandi artist. Currently pursuing a diploma in computer sciences.
Read her story which started in the Lockdown 2020
Azka Bhat" I was inclined to painting and sketching since I was in school. My family especially my father has always been a source of inspiration to me and has always supported me in whatever decision I have taken till now" said Azka
During the lockdown, she developed an interest in calligraphy and had no prior knowledge of it nor did she learnt from anyone. She just started to to calligraphy practice on her own having simple colours and brushes. Firstly, She began with simple names and was not sure whether she will be appreciated or not. But then she was motivated by her friends and family, they began to appreciate her work which made Azka do more calligraphy designes starting with the calligraphy basic strokes
In addition to calligraphy, She is also interested in Mehandi art. She started it when she was in class 6th. Her mother got her a book where from she used to learn new patterns.
I have applied henna on several brides and all have applauded me for it. Now I want to make my name in calligraphy as well" she said

We all must ponder into ourselves and understand what talent we have and should make the best use of it. When there was lockdown in 2020, everything was shut
and she had nothing to do. So she decided to make wall hangings, learn new mehndi designs and also made glass paintings. Initially, She gradually got interest in this field and then it became her passion.

Every now and then i used to buy colours and make whatever striked mind. It was fun but now was want to learn more professional aspects of calligraphy and other arts and make my career in it.
